New controversy surrounding Donald Trump’s physical, cognitive, and mental health
To figure out that there’s something wrong with Donald Trump’s physical health, and even more wrong with his mental health and cognitive abilities, all you have to is observe him from afar. It’s also easy to see that it’s in rapid decline. Now there’s a whole new round of controversy surrounding Trump’s physical and mental health.
Figuring out precisely what’s wrong with Trump’s brain and body would require an expert examining him up close. Trump tried to fend off questions about his health by having the White House doctor perform a physical on him earlier this year. The results of that physical were clearly falsified by Dr. Ronny Jackson, including overstating Trump’s height by an inch and understating his weight by at least thirty pounds. Now those results have become even further delegitimized.
At the time we all wondered how Trump managed to get a respected doctor like Ronny Jackson to fake the results of a physical. Trump then nominated Jackson to run the VA, suggesting quid pro quo. Then came a long list of allegations against Jackson, ranging from being drunk on the job, to handing out prescription drugs like candy, to drunkenly crashing a car and banging on a woman’s door in the middle of the night. Even as those accusations were being investigated, Jackson’s nomination was withdrawn. Now Jackson is also resigning from his longtime role as White House doctor.
Ronny Jackson’s resignation suggests that this scandal is a whole lot worse than we know. It raises new questions about whether Donald Trump knew about Jackson’s disturbing behavior and used it to coerce him into faking the physical. It means that the results of Trump’s physical can now be fully thrown out, because it was obviously done under compromised circumstances. How deep does this rabbit hole go? More to the point, Trump’s physical and mental health are failing so egregiously that he was willing to go these lengths to try to cover it up.
