Melania Trump caught up in January 6th controversy

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

While insurrectionists stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Donald Trump sat in his dining room watching TV coverage of the mayhem that he inspired. In the meantime, former Worst Lady Melania Trump was busy “fulfilling one of [her] duties as First Lady of the United States of America,” or so she claims. As Melania insisted to Fox News on Thursday, she was so engrossed in work that she was “unaware” of the hell being unleased on democracy just a couple of miles down the road.

Although First Lady of the United States is not a role with official government functions, Melania was nevertheless so focused on “fulfilling” her “duty”—on that day and during those hours—that she was supposedly oblivious to the major breaking news. As a result, she now Trumpsplains, it was impossible for her to condemn the attack as it was unfolding.

Melania’s all-encompassing “duty” was to “record the contents of the White House’s historic rooms, including taking archival photographs of all the renovations,” a responsibility which falls on the White House curator and the White House Historical Association. Melania boasted of having organized a team “to ensure perfect execution” on January 6, 2021 “on behalf of our nation.”

Despite widespread coverage on TV and social media of the unprecedented insurrection, Melania wants us to believe that she—apparently along with her team of photographers, archivists, and designers—was in the dark as she assiduously and patriotically snapped pictures of rugs and such. The thing is, Stephanie Grisham, who served as the Worst Lady’s Chief of Staff, texted her a draft statement to condemn the ongoing violence, which Melania shut down with a “No.”

Melania finally tweeted to condemn the violence—five days after blood and feces stained the hallowed halls of the icon of American democracy. As to why she didn’t do it in the first place, Melania curiously blames Grisham for having “failed” to properly brief her on what was transpiring: “Had I been fully informed of all the details, naturally, I would have immediately denounced the violence that occurred at the Capitol Building.”

When asked about this new excuse, Grisham, who felt “sickened” by Melania’s apathetic rejection of her draft statement, told CNN that “everything” Melania said was “bullshit and she knows it.” Melania Trump once again proves that she should quit while she’s behind.
