Donald Trump just made his Melania problem even worse

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In addition to everything else that’s going wrong for Donald Trump, all of it by own hand, he now has an ongoing problem with his marriage. His wife Melania is rightly upset about all the humiliating new stories surfacing about his past instances of cheating on her. For weeks, she kept finding subtle but obvious ways to show him up in public. Just as she seemed to be pulling back from those public displays, Donald opened his mouth and made the problem even worse.

Trump has spent the past week revealing that he’s even more psychologically broken than usual. His Twitter posts, his behavior in public, and the various reports surfacing from major media outlets add up to a picture of a guy who is now alternating between short bursts of incoherently aggressive anger and long stretches of being a deer in the headlights. In that sense, the speech he gave yesterday at the Gridiron Club had to have been little more than him reading a prepared speech that he’d never even seen before. That’s unfortunate for him, and for Melania, because one of his staffers wrote a really idiotic joke.

Here’s what Trump told the audience: “So many people have been leaving the White House. It’s invigorating since you want turnover. I like chaos. It really is good. Who’s going to be the next to leave? Steve Miller or Melania?” (link). Good job, idiot. Just when the stories of the affairs seemed to be dying down to the point that Melania felt comfortable no longer retaliating against him on a daily basis, Donald just went and put the whole thing right back in the spotlight.

If this were anybody else, sure, maybe it could be looked at as a guy trying to acknowledge that he’d done something wrong. But this is malignant narcissist Donald Trump we’re talking about. David Corn of Mother Jones put it best on Twitter: “Donald Trump just humiliated his wife.”
