Melania Trump kicks even more dirt in Donald Trump’s face
Donald Trump is having his worst day yet. Robert Mueller just indicted thirteen Russians for conspiring to rig the election in Trump’s favor, a development which is nothing less than a crippling bodyblow to the legitimacy of Trump’s presidency. Even as everything spirals out of control for Trump on a political and criminal level, his wife just kicked even more well deserved dirt in his face this afternoon.
Melania Trump has been finding creative ways to take subtle yet clear and humiliating shots at Donald in the weeks since his affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels became public. She bailed on his overseas trip. She arrived separately at the State of the Union. She walked past him on a runway and refused to acknowledge him. Now Melania is at it again today, after news broke that Donald had an affair with a Playboy playmate.
Donald and Melania are both headed to Mar-a-Lago in Florida for the weekend. But Melania made a point of traveling this afternoon on her own, without her husband. Sure, they ended up together. But she made sure the media saw that she was traveling alone. She’s sending a clear message: even though he’s succeeded in cajoling her into spending the weekend with him, she’s still twisting the knife by showing up there without him.
There is no way that Melania Trump could have known about these Trump-Russia indictments when she made her travel plans for today. It’s not as if she’s timing this specifically for maximum pain. It’s just working out that way. So now, even as Trump tries to figure out how to protect what little is left of his illegitimate presidency, he’s also dealing with a very public and very ugly marriage scandal.
