Donald Trump has meltdown after learning Andrew McCabe already gave everything to Robert Mueller

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We all saw it coming a mile away, but apparently Donald Trump didn’t. Last night he fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe just a day and a half before McCabe would have been eligible to retire with a full pension, in a move that was equal parts personally vindictive and criminally obstructive. Predictably, it was revealed today that McCabe had been keeping notes on his interactions with Trump all along, and that Special Counsel Robert Mueller already has those notes. Trump promptly had a meltdown over it.

At around 2pm eastern time today, Axios reported that Mueller did indeed have McCabe’s notes (link). This was easy to see coming, as McCabe’s former boss James Comey also took such notes about Trump, and also turned them over to Mueller as evidence of Trump’s obstruction of justice. But the news seemed to have caught Trump off guard.

Trump had already tweeted hateful rants about McCabe and Comey around midnight last night, and again this morning. But a couple hours after the McCabe-Mueller news was reported, Trump decided he needed to up the ante, tweeting “The Mueller probe should never have been started in that there was no collusion and there was no crime. It was based on fraudulent activities and a Fake Dossier paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC, and improperly used in FISA COURT for surveillance of my campaign. WITCH HUNT!”

Based on his heightening hyperbole and obvious exasperation, it appears Donald Trump didn’t realize that firing Andrew McCabe wouldn’t do anything to stop Robert Mueller from moving forward with McCabe’s evidence. Some have suggested that Trump fired McCabe partly to give McCabe a reason to hate him, so that McCabe’s testimony could be seen as biased. But because McCabe was documenting Trump’s obstruction crimes long before Trump began harassing McCabe, that’s out the window. No wonder Trump is throwing a fit.
