Matthew Whitaker just rolled over for Robert Mueller

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

For the three-plus weeks since Donald Trump fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions and illegally replaced him with his own shill Matthew Whitaker as Acting Attorney General, the big question has been what Whitaker would – or could – do to sabotage Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation. Now we finally have a rather clear answer: for now at least, Whitaker isn’t doing anything.

When Robert Mueller began negotiating a plea deal with Jerome Corsi, and gave Corsi a draft of his impending indictment, it was a sign that Mueller was at least able to still make some moves. Matthew Whitaker was clearly not ordering Mueller to refrain from making any deals. The question at that point was whether Whitaker was being hands-off because Corsi was a small fish. Now comes the matter of Michael Cohen today.

Robert Mueller gave Michael Cohen a formal cooperation deal today, and he had Cohen go into court and implicate Donald Trump – and Trump’s kids – in the Trump Tower Moscow election scandal. If Whitaker were going to jump in and try to veto a Mueller move, today would have been it, not to protect Cohen, but to protect Trump and his family from what Cohen was about to do to them. Instead, Whitaker clearly rolled over, because no one stopped Mueller from making it happen.

We’ll see what happens next. But on this day, in this major breakthrough toward ousting Donald Trump and imprisoning his kids, Matthew Whitaker rolled over for Robert Mueller. Maybe Whitaker was too stupid to understand the importance of this move. Maybe Mueller has already scared Whitaker, who is reportedly under FBI criminal investigation for his scam toilet company, into submission. Either way, Mueller won this day. Tomorrow will be stranger.
