Matt Gaetz just went on Tucker Carlson and made things worse

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Earlier this evening, the New York Times reported that the Department of Justice is investigating Congressman Matt Gaetz for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a seventeen year old girl and transporting her across state lines for the purpose of having sex. If this proves true, Gaetz’s life and career are basically over. He says he’s innocent, and claims he’s being extorted over it by a former DOJ official.

Matt Gaetz decided to appear on the Tucker Carlson show on Fox News tonight to plead his case. That probably wasn’t the best idea, given Carlson’s total lack of credibility. But the real twist came when Gaetz claimed that the FBI tried to pressure a female friend of his into testifying against him in a pay for play scheme. Gaetz claimed that he and the woman had dinner with Carlson and Carlson’s wife two years ago.

Confronted with this story, Tucker Carlson then said that he had no recollection of any such dinner or any such woman. Oops. In other words, Matt Gaetz didn’t help himself at all with this particular TV appearance. Again, the real truth will come out before much longer, whatever it is. But in the meantime Gaetz is making things worse for himself by running his mouth like this.
