Matt Gaetz just keeps making this worse for himself

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

With all that’s going on, you’d think Matt Gaetz would be spending all of his time meeting with the criminal defense attorney he just hired, or the crisis management team he just hired. Of course the people he’s hired are all aligned with Trump and Giuliani, which tells you that Gaetz is planning to try to get himself off the legal hook by being obnoxious.

That may explain why Gaetz has decided that saying stupid things on Twitter is a key component to his criminal defense strategy. After all, that strategy worked for Trump and Giuliani, though not really, because both their careers have been destroyed and they’re both just sitting around waiting to be criminally indicted.

In any case, Gaetz seems to think that his best move right now is picking a fight with CNN. No, really. CNN reported that Gaetz recently requested a meeting with Trump, and that Trump refused. Gaetz is denying this, and he’s throwing a fit because CNN didn’t include his denial in its story.

But Matt Gaetz’s long political track record of frequently lying about everything means that his denial didn’t matter anyway. And even if he did have a point, no one out there is going to care. He’s being criminally investigated for underage sex trafficking. If he’s guilty, then his life is over, and picking fights with the media isn’t going to change that. And if he is innocent, then behaving like this is just making him look guilty.
