Matt Gaetz just gave away how hosed he is
Matt Gaetz, who’s under federal criminal investigation on a number of serious charges, is now declaring that he and Donald Trump, who’s under criminal investigation in three different jurisdictions, are going to magically take over the United States next year. This is how people publicly talk when they privately think it’s all over for them.
People like Gaetz and Trump only spew this kind of bravado because they know that most or all of the media will eagerly jump on the opportunity to hype whatever scary scenario they’re laying out. The defeatists on our side will hear these media narratives and insist that, yes, Trump is magically taking over and all hope is lost, and the media will benefit from the resulting spike in ratings.
This vicious cycle of laughable bravado from defeated right wing losers, and the ridiculous validation and amplification of it by the entire media on all sides of the political spectrum, won’t stop until we start viewing the defeatists on our side as a liability. Until we figure out how to get the defeatists away from the political arena, people like Gaetz and Trump – and the opportunistic media – will continue to take advantage of their vulnerable psychological state.
