Donald Trump’s GOP Senate pal Marsha Blackburn goes completely off the deep end
In terms of the strength of the case being presented against him, the ineffectiveness of his own defense attorneys, and the polling which shows that more Americans than ever want witnesses to testify, Donald Trump’s impeachment trial is going about as poorly for him as could be expected. Some Republican Senators are clearly getting nervous, and have already forced Mitch McConnell to change the trial rules. Other Republican Senators are simply trying to take a blowtorch to the whole thing, in the hope that setting everything on fire might help Trump.
Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn, a bigoted monster who was elected in 2018 with Donald Trump’s help, is now going all-in to try to help Trump’s sinking impeachment defense. She’s spent all day tweeting false, absurd, and completely insane things about Trump’s accusers. What finally got her in real trouble was when she tweeted this:

Twitter quickly proceeded to set Senator Blackburn on fire, and her name began trending as everyone piled on. Numerous respondents pointed out that Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman earned a Purple Heart in combat, while Donald Trump is a draft dodger who keeps criminally conspiring with foreign nations to try to rig elections in his favor. After the backlash, Blackburn began doubling down with lie after lie about Vindman. Was she somehow expecting this to go differently?
