Looks like Donald Trump has taken Mark Meadows down with him
Mark Meadows has been caught on tape committing felony election tampering, alongside Donald Trump. Will Trump try to pardon him for it? Will such a pardon hold up in court? Will Meadows cut a plea deal against Trump? Will Georgia hit Meadows with state charges? Either way, Meadows is now facing a terrible, ruined life from here on out.
Meadows deserves it, of course. He volunteered to become the White House Chief of Staff for Trump, at a time when it was already clear to all involved that Trump was in the midst of a prolonged crime spree. Meadows helped Trump commit those crimes.
Meadows will argue at his trial that he only did it because he was trying to keep Trump from getting even further out of line. But that’s not a valid defense. If you go along with your pals on what you know is going to bank robbery, you can’t argue in court that you only did it to keep them from killing the hostages. That argument might get Meadows a shorter sentence, but not an acquittal. Meadows is a criminal, and now he’ll pay for it.
