Marjorie Taylor Greene just became the poster child

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It takes a special kind of stupid to be Marjorie Taylor Greene. Perhaps she’s not stupid as much as she is just a liar. Either way, she continues to stick her foot in her sizeable mouth and continues about her business as if she’s done nothing wrong. After Rebecca Kiessling testified about the deaths of both of her sons from fentanyl, blaming the government for not securing the southern border, Greene tweeted her involvement in the hearing, blaming the Biden administration. There are so many things wrong with both Greene’s tweet and Kiessling’s testimony.

First, as CNN reported, Kiessling’s sons died during the Trump administration, so their deaths certainly had nothing to do with the Biden administration. Second, Kiessling testified that the southern border needs strengthening to stop “welcoming drug dealers across our border!” It has been shown time and again that the bulk of fentanyl comes into the U.S. via legal entry ports with American citizens. According to the Cato Institute, smuggling fentanyl into the country is funded by those who want it, and almost 99% are U.S. citizens. Further, 86.3% of convicted fentanyl drug traffickers are U.S. citizens, and over 90% of seizures occur at legal crossing points. So much for migrants smuggling fentanyl across the southern border.

Kiessling never accused the Biden administration of anything; that honor belongs to Greene. Kiessling clearly gave the date of her sons’s deaths, which was well before President Biden took office, but that fact was apparently lost on Greene, who immediately blamed President Biden. Greene is, of course, the consummate liar. She continues to claim election fraud in 2020, even though numerous courts and investigations have turned up nothing. In fact, Sterling Gabriel, a Republican who works with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, has repeatedly denounced Greene’s lies about the election in Georgia, including her lie that “thousands of dead voters” cast ballots. Not only has Gabriel called Greene out for her lies, but as CNN reported, Trump’s own deputy attorney general and the U.S. attorney in Georgia Trump appointed also debunked Greene’s lies. Yet, she continues to lie. Fortunately, as the Hill reported, Biden takes her lies in stride.

Meeting with Democrats in Maryland during their annual retreat, Biden asked: “Isn’t she amazing?” Amazingly stupid. The Hill included Greene’s grammatically error riddled tweet, including spelling cartels “cartel’s.” We’re not sure what the “cartel” owns, but in Greene’s mind, she is pluralizing the word. She is a joke. Biden pointed out that Kiessling’s sons died during the Trump administration and moved on. Greene’s stories have no impact on a man who is more focused on legislation, which was the purpose of his speech. Biden continues to push for bipartisan support on bills that benefit all citizens of the U.S., including those who vote for big-mouthed liars like Greene. As Biden rightfully pointed out, the more Marjorie Taylor Greenes we have out there, the more the real conservatives will run the other way and realize the value in bipartisan legislation. She is the poster child for everything wrong with their party.
