Marjorie Taylor Greene goes even further off the idiotic deep end
When she stood up in Congress and told an easy-to-refute-with-Google lie about how the polio vaccine came in single doses while Covid vaccines come in multiple doses, Marjorie Taylor Greene was being …, well, herself. She will probably never have to suffer any embarrassment for it. Unlike Dan Quayle who will have to spend the rest of his days explaining why he can’t spell “potato,” Greene won’t ever have to explain why polio vaccines are in fact also administered in multiple doses. Put another way, Quayle’s rather minor folly is part of his Wikipedia entry, MTG’s major one will never be. Such are the times we live in.
Greene went on to say that she was sponsoring a bill to “stop taxpayer funding for bioweapons.” On the surface that sounds like a pretty good idea. I wouldn’t want my tax dollars to go into research on some horrible nerve agent that causes people to die, would you? Of course not.
But you have to remember, this is Marjorie Taylor Greene, the three most sickening words in the English language (to paraphrase Gore Vidal), and nothing she ever does or says is for good. Like a dumb Bond villain with a southern accent, what she’s really after is to indirectly point the bony finger of false accusation at Ukraine. “There are reports,” Greene says, “of possibly deadly pathogens escaping these biolabs in places like Ukraine, Georgia [and] Kazakhstan.”
No there isn’t. There are no such reports. None. That’s a lie. Ukraine has no bioweapons labs. Period. And by the way, that list of “guilty” countries exists exclusively so she can blame Ukraine without appearing quite so obvious about it. But Greene doesn’t give a crap about Georgia or Kazakhstan. She is sponsoring this bogus bill so she can turn Americans against Ukraine and drive them into the arms of Vladimir Putin. Greene loves Putin because Donald Trump loves Putin, and that’s reason enough for her.
What’s amazing is this poisonous hag is a member of the United States Congress. Marjorie Taylor Greene is stupid, and she was elected by stupid people for stupid reasons. For those readers who are still misguided enough to subscribe to the world’s dumbest conspiracy theory, here’s something for you to ponder: Marjorie Taylor Greene is also a 9/11 “Truther.”
Of course the Republican Party is complicit in making this disgusting person possible. Thirty years ago someone like Greene would have no voice in Congress because she wouldn’t have been elected in the first place and would be repudiated by her own party if she were. But today the Republican cowards turn a deaf ear to her, because they know she speaks for their lord and saviour Donald J. Trump, and that’s good enough for them. There are eight million stupid stories in the naked city of stupid stories, this has been one of them. And, as ever, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, comrades and friends, stay safe.
