Marianne Williamson just pulled a Mike Pence

Marianne Williamson says she’ll run in the 2024 democratic presidential primary. She knows she’ll get like 1% of the primary vote and have to drop out. But she’ll sell a whole bunch of her books in the process, which is why con artists like her all run for President these days.

At some point we may need to find a way to change the laws to prevent people from formally entering an election for the primary or sole purpose of promoting a product or brand. It would be phenomenally tricky to try to spread that needle. But until we do, we’ll be stuck with a boatload of non-viable candidates “running” for President just to hawk their books.
