Any Sensei will tell you to use your opponent’s energy to throw them off balance. Trump not only exposed Republican racism, but also the powerful players holding their purse strings. This makes them vulnerable.
The goal of the GOP puppeteers is to make America a Christo-Fascist state, a mostly white, male dominated oligarchy, modeled after Russia. Like Putin, they buy corrupt magistrates, such as Judge Aileen Cannon, and Justices Alito and Thomas. They have already tested autocracy at the state level and plan to go national. Even if it doesn’t work in 2025, they’re pushing further right for field position the next opportunity to come into power.
But the U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Therefore, anything unconstitutional is illegal. The Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” puts their treason in writing. Rep. Jasmine Crockett has been sounding the alarm, but Congressional Democrats can go further by campaigning on the promise to litigate Republican violations of the Constitution.
Yes, Republicans completely disregard the law. Texas already defied the Supreme Court ruling on the border. Louisiana Republicans have defied the Supreme Court despite its ruling twice in 2023 against racial gerrymandering in Alabama and Louisiana. Several GOP House members have made violent threats. Trump’s pick for chief of staff, Russ Vought, is advocating a “post-constitutional era” to give a Republican president absolute power.
But Democrats can use all of this and more against them. The Speech and Debate Clause does not protect threats of violence outside proceedings of Congress. Senator Chuck Schumer put The Right to Contraception Act to a vote, and all but two Republicans present voted against it. In a shocking report Monday, journalist Lauren Windsor exposed Justice Alito’s disqualifying bias. Democrats can weaponize these actions through coordinated campaign messaging, litigation, and legislation. Roberts can be pressured to force Alito to recuse or even resign.
Democrats are also relentlessly exposing mainstream media for misinformation campaigns dictated by authoritarian billionaire owners. We now know that Substack, the blogging platform used by most pundits on Twitter, was almost entirely funded by Andreesen Horowitz. Elon Musk and his shady investors took Twitter private and we now see Jamie Dimon making peace with him after a 10-year feud. Venture capital billionaires David Sacks and Steve Schwarzman are backing Trump.
But not only are these oligarchs consolidating power no longer operating in a vacuum, law enforcement is also taking action. Jeff Bezos is facing backlash over the Washington Post publisher’s credibility. The CFO of The Epoch Times, which became a propaganda rag for MAGA conspiracy theories, was arrested for a $67 million money laundering scheme. Trump is now a convicted felon who just had his first meeting with his parole officer.
Trump is a modern-day plunderer like our settlers who killed off the native populations, and enslaved millions of Africans. But we have evolved since then. We have the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. U.S. voters do not want a Christo-Fascist state. As I write this, it was just announced that House Democrats have launched a task force to coordinate messaging and a legislative strategy against Project 2025 and use it against the GOP. Kuzushi, hai!
