Makes you wonder what’s going on with these two

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In the three days since we learned that Rudy Giuliani met with Jack Smith, and in the 24 hours since we learned that the meeting was a formal proffer session, Giuliani hasn’t had any public response at all. He hasn’t tried to deny it, confirm it, spin it, or even mention it. Instead his Twitter feed has consisted of nothing but his usual videos full of the usual incoherent conspiracy theories.

For that matter, Donald Trump hasn’t addressed the Giuliani news on his Truth Social account either. Instead Trump’s posts over the past few days have all been the standard fare, gloating about how Ron DeSantis is falling apart.

If Giuliani isn’t trying to cut a deal against Trump, this would be the part where he would vehemently deny the reporting, and publicly insist that he and Trump are victims who are sticking together. His silence on the matter is almost confirmation that he is indeed trying to flip on Trump.

Trump’s silence on the matter is something else altogether. It almost makes you wonder if he even knows about it. Over the past couple years he’s tended to respond to bad news on a multi-day delay, suggesting that his handlers keep him shielded from actual news reporting, and only break bad news to him once it’s absolutely necessary.

Then again, maybe Trump does know about the Rudy story, and is simply too scared to dare publicly attack him. After all, we all remember when Rudy publicly bragged that he had “insurance” against Trump in case it ever came down to it.

In any case we’re watching two formerly very powerful men who are now broken, powerless, struggling with cognitive issues, and getting swallowed up by the criminal justice system. There’s not a thing Rudy can do about it, other than flip on Trump and hope for the best. And there’s not a thing Trump can do one way or the other.
