Louis DeJoy’s ugly endgame

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

By law the President of the United States can’t fire the Postmaster General, or else President Joe Biden would have had Louis DeJoy out on his butt a long time ago. Instead, Biden has been taking the numerous steps required to get enough people confirmed to the Postal Board who are willing to fire DeJoy. In the meantime, DeJoy appears to be going for broke.

Louis DeJoy is now having the Post Office give a huge contract to a company called XPO Logistics, which in turn just happens to pay a ton of money to Louis DeJoy. It’s a classic kickback scheme, and a particularly brazen one. Of course DeJoy knows his time is likely running short, so he’s presumably trying to cash in while he still can.

DeJoy isn’t just at risk of losing his job. In June it was established that the Department of Justice is criminally investigating him for a decade long pattern of clear-cut campaign finance felonies. There’s no way that any of this ends well for DeJoy, but he appears to be trying to steal what he can while he still can.
