Donald Trump is having a no good, very bad, horrible day

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Today was a bad day for the criminal justice system. It was also a bad day for a very bad federal judge, who just set himself up for impeachment. As an American, a patriot, and a human, you should feel sick about today’s Paul Manafort sentencing. But here’s the thing: this doesn’t mean that Donald Trump and his gang of criminals are now somehow winning. In fact they’re losing even worse than ever, and today proved it.

Just how bad was today for Paul Manafort? He lucked out by drawing a racist crackpot judge, and he’s still headed to prison for four years, which will probably grow to fourteen years when he’s sentenced by a different judge in his other trial next week. Today would only have been a win for Manafort if he’d walked. For that matter, today would only have been a win for Donald Trump if he had the political muscle to pardon Manafort, which he clearly does not.

The bottom line is that today drove home even further the fact that the sitting “President” of the United States is a criminal who hired criminals to run a criminal campaign. His campaign chairman just got sent to prison. His campaign vice chairman Rick Gates is headed to prison. His personal fixer Michael Cohen is also on his way to prison, but not before exposing a bunch more of Trump’s crimes along the way. His former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn might only get off easy because he sold out everyone in Trump world. That’s before getting to the fact that Trump’s kids are facing lengthy prison sentences for their roles in his criminal campaign and his criminal real estate facade.

Donald Trump isn’t “winning” right now by any stretch of the imagination. If he were, today would have gone very differently for him, and he’d be in a very different situation overall right now. Justice wasn’t properly served today, but it was nonetheless a bodyblow to Trump, at a time when he can’t absorb much more. Investigators and prosecutors are coming at him from all sides. Trump is losing. In fact he’s losing even worse than ever.
