Lord of the Flies
As you know, Fox News is in the business of kissing up to Donald Trump: The other evening, Tennessee rep. Tim Burchett appeared on the network and gave quite a statement about Mike Johnson. Saying that the: “die has been cast,” Burchett went on to rave about Johnson. You don’t exactly have to be a rocket scientist to see what’s going on–Burchett is attempting to bring the party together.
He’s got a better chance of winning powerball. But it was WHY Burchett is suggesting people back Johnson for the office of speaker that has eyebrows raised. Get ready for it. Johnson would be an excellent speaker because he’s a “fine Christian man who doesn’t cheat on his wife.”
Is that all it takes these days? “I find that very appealing,” Burchett went on. This is becoming more and more like a movie set. Somehow, none of this seems real. Could a political party possibly be THAT utterly stupid?
Yes.
As you know, Trump is thought to have cheated many times. I wonder if he would appreciate these comments. Apparently, in GOP land, not cheating on one’s spouse is the bar for becoming House Speaker.
In the end, it doesn’t matter WHO snags this ever-unimportant meaningless title because they will be powerless — and hated. No Speaker’s psyche survives intact if said speaker is a Republican. It’s Lord of the Flies on acid. Once the proclamation is made, the newly anointed candidate has derision, mockery, hate, and rage to look forward to. That’s all the GOP is humanly capable of.
