Looks like we might be about to see congressional hearings on Donald Trump’s tax returns

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Back when Donald Trump was in office, the Manhattan District Attorney and the House of Representatives sought to obtain Trump’s tax returns from his accounting firm. Trump went to court to try to stop both moves, and managed to delay them both significantly. But last week the DA finally got its hands on the tax returns. This put all eyes on the House.

Sure enough, the House Oversight Committee issued a new subpoena to the accounting firm for Trump’s tax returns, according to CNN’s Ana Cabrera. It’s not immediately clear to us if Trump is going to be able to delay this in court. The Supreme Court’s ruling on Trump’s taxes did differentiate between the DA’s subpoena and the House’s subpoena. But we fully expect that the House will end up with Trump’s taxes in the end, whether it’s immediate or not.

Here’s the big takeaway. The House’s new subpoena for the tax returns makes clear that the House intends to hold hearings on Trump’s financial corruption and air this stuff out publicly. If it happens soon enough, these hearings could end up making Trump’s financial crimes public before we inevitably see them in the criminal indictment that’ll come out of that New York grand jury. The bottom line is that it’s open season Trump. He’s being crushed from all sides.
