Looks like Rick Perry is going to prison after all

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

To give you an idea of just how screwed Rick Perry already is in the Ukraine extortion scandal, we’ve seen his “amigos” Kurt Volker and Gordon Sondland already acknowledge the role that the three of them played in the scandal. We’ve also seen Donald Trump briefly try to blame the entire scandal on Perry, on the premise that Perry was expendable.

We’ve been waiting for another shoe to drop when it comes to Rick Perry and Ukraine. Last month the AP reported that Perry tried to use his position as Secretary of Energy to get some of his own associates installed as executives in a Ukrainian gas company. That sounds a lot like racketeering, but more evidence was going to need to emerge. Now it has.

The AP now says that after Rick Perry pushed the Ukrainian government to employ one of his associates as a political adviser, the Ukrainian government turned around and gave a huge oil and gas contract to that associate. This is the kind of corruption that sends you to prison for a long time, because not only is it ugly, there’s a money trail to be followed.

In other words, Rick Perry is now pretty much earmarked for prison once this is all over and Donald Trump is gone. The only question is whether anyone expects Trump to stick his neck out by pardoning a relative peon like Perry. We don’t see it happening. If Rick Perry were smart – which he’s not – he’d sell Trump out to the House impeachment inquiry while he still can, in the hope it’ll impress the post-Trump Department of Justice into giving him leniency.
