Looks like Donald Trump’s handlers have found their excuse for cutting back on his public appearances
There’s a reason Donald Trump made very few public appearances in 2021 and 2022. Whenever he did occasionally surface, it was clear that he was suffering from severe cognitive decline. Trump’s handlers kept him hidden from public view for as long as they could. But of course once Trump decided to masquerade as a 2024 candidate, it meant he had to start making regular public appearances. That’s when everyone started getting to see that he’s senile.
As Trump’s condition has gotten starkly and visibly worse over the past month, I’ve pointed out that the situation was untenable for him. If Trump’s babysitters continued to allow him to make one campaign appearance after another in which he didn’t appear to know who people like Obama and Nikki Haley were, then he was going to be finished politically a lot sooner than November.
Of course the question was how Trump’s handlers were going to find a way to get him to stop holding these humiliating rallies. After all, Trump still thinks he’s a candidate for something. Now it appears they’ve found their excuse.
Trump’s personal finances are falling to pieces, and his 2024 campaign has only raised a fraction of what the Biden 2024 campaign has raised. So now Trump’s handlers are telling the New York Times that because of the cash crunch, they’re going to have to cut back on Trump rallies and instead have Trump do most of his campaigning virtually from his home. How convenient.
By using money problems as an excuse, Trump’s handlers are now getting him away from the rigors of the campaign trail. They’re setting him up to campaign from a safe, stress free environment in which he can literally roll out of bed and babble for an hour into a Zoom app before lying back down. And because virtual events don’t tend to be considered “real” campaign events, fewer in the media will pay attention. Which is of course the whole point. Trump’s babysitters don’t want the media or the public to notice Trump at all. They just don’t want to face questions about why Trump isn’t appearing in public.
Trump, for his part, appears to be at a stage of dementia where the people around him can convince him of anything just by repeating it enough times. So he’ll presumably go along with this idea that he’ll mainly be campaigning from home because Letitia James and E. Jean Carroll stole all his money. Of course the real reason he’ll be “campaigning” from home is that he’s a fully senile man who can’t appear in public without making himself even more non-viable.
It shouldn’t be lost on anyone that Donald Trump – fully senile and reduced to running a fake campaign from his basement – is now precisely what the folks on his side have spent years falsely accusing President Biden of being. But then that was the entire point. The whole time Trump’s people were hiding him from public view because of how badly he was going downhill, they were also falsely claiming that it was Biden who was going downhill – so that by the time a senile Trump reemerged in public view, the waters would already be muddied. Of course Trump is now so senile, his handlers are having to pull him off the campaign trail and hide him on Zoom calls where he’ll mostly be talking to himself. It’s proof that there really is no way for Trump’s babysitters to work around his full blown senility.
