Look what the cat dragged in

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We all know Maga does some very stupid things. But they’ve really gone over the bend with this one. Look what the cat dragged in — quite literally. On Twitter, “Make America Great Again, INC” proudly touted a poll showing Trump beating Ron DeSantis. And Trump IS beating DeSantis. That’s not the bizarre part. It is the poll they chose to use.

Polls, as you know, must include random sampling. The data must be clean, and any legitimate poll takes pains to ensure that it is. Not this poll. The Magas on Twitter cited a poll that the cat dragged in — literally. The name of the person doing this poll is catturd.

Now, Catturd is a Trump superfan (and a favorite chatting companion of Elon Musk’s.) The thing is — The Trumpers proudly hawked this poll as if it were real: “Poll conducted by @catturd2 Juner 28,2023, 80,818 votes.”

People — this is FAKE. It could be, for all we know, the same damn people voting multiple times. And it’s embarrassing or should be for the GOP. Are they going to go on Fox and Proudly speak of a poll, not by Catturd? Is there NO shame in anything the Republicans do?

Of course, other true media organizations made enormous fun of this feline poll. From The Atlantic’s Charlie Warzel: “Just feeling grateful I was born when I was so that I get to be alive to witness this kind of shit.”
