Donald Trump just got a look at his own fate, and he can’t be liking what he’s seeing

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

He’s a criminally corrupt far-right nationalist leader whose popularity has been sliding for some time. He’s desperately trying to hang onto power, and if he fails, he faces indictment and imprisonment. Are we talking about Donald Trump, or Benjamin Netanyahu? Both, actually.

As of right now, most observers and pundits are expecting Benjamin Netanyahu to be named the loser of the current election in Israel. In a sign of how things are going, Netanyahu is currently refusing to concede – which means he’s seen as the loser. He’s trying to negotiate a coalition in the hope of somehow remaining in power even if he is named the loser, but that’s not how that works.

If Benjamin Netanyahu somehow ends up being named the winner of the election tomorrow, then he survives. But if he is indeed officially declared the loser of the election tomorrow, as expected, he’ll very likely be immediately ousted as Prime Minister. Because the criminal indictment process against him is already underway, he can expect to be immediately arrested and charged. Just like that, he’ll go from the very top to the very bottom.

This is almost precisely the fate that Donald Trump is now facing. He currently has no path to winning the next election, and no strategy for turning things around. It’s still a long way away, and he surely has some more half-baked tricks up his sleeve, one or more of which might accidentally work. But if Trump remains on the current path, he’ll lose in 2020, and then he’ll be indicted and arrested. When Trump thinks about Netanyahu’s fate tonight, he’s really thinking about his own.
