Liz Cheney rips Donald Trump to pieces
Donald Trump is now publicly suggesting that he’s going to try to nail Liz Cheney for imaginary crimes related to the January 6th Committee. Given how incredibly feeble Trump is, and how badly he’s weakened his upcoming presidency before it’s even begun, we’ll see if he ends up having the muscle to try things like this. But suffice it to say that Cheney isn’t having any of it.
Trump made a social media post bashing Liz Cheney and making implied threats against him. But Cheney didn’t miss a beat, firing back with this lengthy rebuttal, which we’ll post in full because every word of it is worth reading:
Donald, this is not the Soviet Union. You can’t change the truth and you cannot silence us. Remember all your lies about the voting machines, the election workers, your countless allegations of fraud that never happened? Many of your lawyers have been sanctioned, disciplined or disbarred, the courts ruled against you, and dozens of your own White House, administration, and campaign aides testified against you. Remember how you sent a mob to our Capitol and then watched the violence on television and refused for hours to instruct the mob to leave? Remember how your former Vice President prevented you from overturning our Republic? We remember. And now, as you take office again, the American people need to reject your latest malicious falsehoods and stand as the guardrails of our Constitutional Republic — to protect the America we love from you.
This is how you deal with Donald Trump. You don’t sit around talking about how dangerously powerful he is. You don’t say “Oh no he’s got us right where he wants us.” Trump is always trying to find ways to look dangerously powerful. The way to defeat him, as Liz Cheney just showed us, is to fire back at him in a way which exposes just how weak he is.
