Lindsey Graham’s swan song

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Lindsey Graham is unhappy. How do I know that? Because all one has to do is look at him to see the anguish that is ripping him apart. Ever since Graham made his push for a national abortion ban, things have become worse for him. Graham has been scorned, laughed at, jeered, and been the recipient of fury from both Republicans and Democrats.

But Graham is protesting that doesn’t mean anything, and he’s not sorry he said what he did. Only I do not believe him. Why? Because Graham appears exhausted. He looks like he hasn’t slept in days. His eyes are watery, and his voice quivers. He took a question from a pro-life woman and could not look her in the eye. He seems so very tired.

I personally think Lindsey is teetering on the brink. This might just be his final swansong. And what a sad and lonely swansong it is. Graham made perhaps the worst political calculation in DECADES.

Very few can deny that. Graham did appear on Fox non-news, where he spoke to Jessie Watters and reiterated that he was “proudly pro-life.” So are almost all Republicans. This statement by Graham is meaningless and certainly does not explain the stunning self-sabotage that Graham indulged in.

Graham was also on the defensive — another hint to his state of mind. When one goes on the defensive, one is losing. And Graham sounded defensive as hell — and defiant. Watters told Graham bluntly that Republicans were furious at him and that “You could have done it any other day.”

Graham refused to apologize. And I do believe his swan song is afoot. Graham has become so entangled in his own lies — – that he’s lost all ability to KNOW what’s appropriate and what isn’t. There is a hardness about the man, a sort of jaded “I don’t give a damn” attitude that permeates him. I think, on some level, he just might not care anymore.

It’s a shame, but it is all symbolic of the Trump disease. The Trump disease devours everyone in its path, and few are immune — and it’s just taken a big chunk out of Lindsey Graham.
