Lindsey Graham just had an epic fail
Now that there’s overwhelming momentum and pressure for John Bolton to testify during Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, the Republican Senators who are most loyal to Trump are going to some pretty comical lengths to try to minimize the damage. For instance, Senator Pat Toomey publicly suggested letting Bolton testify in exchange for letting Trump call someone like Hunter Biden. That was obviously never going to happen, but it shows the extent of their desperation right now.
No one knows “desperation” better than Lindsey Graham. So after his fellow Republican Senator James Lankford announced that he wants to hear from John Bolton and he wants to read John Bolton’s book, Graham tried to spin that in a whole different direction. Graham tweeted this:
I totally support @SenatorLankford’s proposal that the Bolton manuscript be made available to the Senate, if possible, in a classified setting where each Senator has the opportunity to review the manuscript and make their own determination.
Uh, nice try. John Bolton’s book is already available for preorder on Amazon. Its public release is happening. Bolton gave the Trump regime thirty days to let him know if it believed any of the information in Bolton’s book was classified. The Trump regime failed to respond, so now Bolton is going to release his book. In Lindsey Graham’s mind, all one hundred Senators are going to be willing to sit down in a SCIF and read a lengthy book, when they could just have Bolton testify and tell them what’s in it. This is hilarious, and it tells you how desperate Team Trump now is.
