Lindsey Graham isn’t worming his way out of this one
Lindsey Graham says he’ll fight his Fulton County grand jury subpoena. Good luck, dummy. You can’t just ignore or “run out the clock” on a grand jury subpoena. All you do is piss off a judge, who will hold you in contempt, and quickly dismantle you until you comply.
Not only will the courts rule that Graham must comply, they’ll do it swiftly. This is all very different from a congressional subpoena, which can be dragged out a year and has no swift mechanism for enforcement. Graham has to know this. If anything, he may just be making a show of it so Trump world will think he fought to protect Trump as hard as he could before caving.
And if Graham is nuts enough to take the fall to try to protect Trump, it won’t help Trump anyway. The DA will have plenty of other witnesses and evidence for nailing Trump. Graham would be martyring himself in a way that benefits no one. If that’s what he wants, so be it.
