Donald Trump is so wrong on this one, even Lindsey Graham is calling it a “disaster”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. In the future, the textbooks on criminal law will include entire chapters on Donald Trump’s crimes. Accordingly, the psychological textbooks might end up including a chapter on whatever is wrong with Lindsey Graham, who keeps becoming more erratic and unhinged by the day. Graham is Trump’s most absurdist apologist – except not this time around.

Late last night, Donald Trump announced that he was immediately pulling the U.S. military out of Northern Syria. This will allow Turkey to invade the region and slaughter millions of Kurds who have been fighting alongside the United States. This move is being almost universally panned, and it’s so hideous in nature, it’s left some to wonder if Trump is doing it to try to bully the House into dropping impeachment (if so, it won’t work). Notably, even Lindsey Graham thinks this is an unconscionable idea. Graham tweeted this:

I don’t know all the details regarding President Trump’s decision in northern Syria. In process of setting up phone call with Secretary Pompeo.

If press reports are accurate this is a disaster in the making.* Ensures ISIS comeback.

* Forces Kurds to align with Assad and Iran.
* Destroys Turkey’s relationship with U.S. Congress.
* Will be a stain on America’s honor for abandoning the Kurds.”

This prompted Donald Trump’s biggest critic in the Republican Senate, Mitt Romney, to quote Graham’s tweet and then add this: “The President’s decision to abandon our Kurd allies in the face of an assault by Turkey is a betrayal. It says that America is an unreliable ally; it facilitates ISIS resurgence; and it presages another humanitarian disaster.”

Generally speaking, if Donald Trump announced that he was planning to take all candy away from all babies, Lindsey Graham would respond by defending Trump’s need for all the candy, while questioning the babies’ patriotism. So it’s notable, to say the least, that Graham is the one sounding the alarm about Trump’s disastrous plan for Syria. Trump may have finally crossed a line here that even his apologists will be forced to drag him back from.
