Donald Trump’s life is over
Donald Trump’s presidency, legacy, fortune, and freedom are now over. In fact his life is over, as he’ll spend the rest of his life in solitary confinement. With what’s come out thus far tonight, and what’s likely to leak over the next few days, Trump’s presidency should in fact end rather soon, meaning his time behind bars will begin soon. Here’s the thing: Trump is taking everyone down with him.
Tonight we learned that the Trump White House has been using a secret server to hide the records of Donald Trump’s conversations with foreign leaders going back as far as 2017. This means that the Ukraine scandal isn’t a one-off, and the Trump White House has in fact been engaged in a coverup for years. Trump’s people, past and present, signed off on this. They’ve been plotting all along, misusing a classified server to bury Trump’s criminal scandals, and getting their hands so dirty that they’re going to wish they’d never gone into politics to begin with.
National Security Council people are going down. White House Counsel people are going down. That’s right, Donald Trump – the guy who never could figure out the difference between a council and a counsel – is now taking them both down. This is before getting to the people who were in the room during Trump’s Oval Office meeting with the Russians, and who now appear to have lied to Robert Mueller about what was said. Just because Mueller is done, it doesn’t mean these people can’t be charged.
It’s not just that Donald Trump’s crime spree has is about to destroy his own people, taking down a swath of sycophants and fools. It’s that some of these people are surely realizing right now that their lives are over unless they find a way to immediately get on the right side of this.
The kicker is that there isn’t anyone for these people to try to cut immunity deals with right now, because Attorney General Bill Barr is criminally implicated in this scandal as well, and he’s hiding out in Italy right now in what looks like a thinly veiled attempt at avoiding being subpoenaed in the House impeachment probe. It’s not even clear what happens next. All we know is that Trump is going down – soon – and he’s taking his swamp people with him.
