Donald Trump suddenly has a whole new Lev Parnas problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Over the past couple weeks, Lev Parnas has turned over Ukraine scandal documents to the House impeachment inquiry, making clear that he’s looking to score some kind of leniency when it comes to the serious criminal charges he’s facing. It’s raised questions about whether Parnas might also cut a formal cooperating plea deal with the SDNY, flipping on Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani in the process. Now it turns out he may not have much of a choice.

The SDNY just asked a federal judge to revoke Lev Parnas’ bail and toss him in jail, arguing that Parnas and his attorney lied to them about his assets and income level, according to CNN. It’s not specified whether the SDNY is making these accusations against Parnas’ previous or current lawyer. For reference, Parnas’ previous lawyer was a close associate of Donald Trump, while Parnas’ current lawyer has been steering Parnas toward cooperating with investigators.

Regardless of the specifics, the bottom line is that if the judge sides with SDNY, we’ll soon see Lev Parnas re-arrested, and this time he’ll rot behind bars until his trial eventually takes place. This would serve as rather strong motivation for Parnas to go ahead and cut that cooperating plea deal with the SDNY, which would require him to fully sell out Trump, Rudy, Igor Fruman, and everyone else involved.
