Let’s talk about Ketanji Brown Jackson
Great occasions are always worth talking about. So let’s talk about Ketanji Brown Jackson. In the last few days, we have seen a magnificent legal scholar. We have been introduced to her, heard her words of wisdom, gotten to know her. It’s been a revealing process in both good AND bad ways.
We have learned that some in the insurrection party are worse than we ever could have imagined. I’m sure you found some of the more vile Republicans offensive, uncouth and evil. And I do not think evil is too strong a word. Let’s have a look back, shall we? Ted Cruz is the king of bullshit. It is tragic for Texas that such a man as that represents them. He is totally and completely repulsive.
And then there is Marsha Blackburn. The creature from the Maga lagoon ASKED Judge Jackson to define the word “woman.” This was bizarre even for a Republican. Blackburn reminds me very strongly of a movie character coming to life. I have no problem envisioning her at lunch with a group of gossipy women, carefully peering at what young women are wearing and waving a handkerchief as she exclaims about the morality of democratic women.
To Blackburn — I’d like to know how you define “lady” because it isn’t you. Hawley, whom I’ve nicknamed “Count Dracula,” was pretty much — Hawley. Graham’s compulsive need for drama is becoming obsessive, and I feel he needs a shrink very badly.
Jackson has more elegance, grace, intelligence, and humility in one finger than the people mentioned above do collectively. She is a magnificent Judge who has charisma leaping off of her and to quote from another of my articles, she has “the majesty of a lioness.” I have no doubt she will be a brilliant Justice, the type a wonderful man like President Biden WOULD choose.
And I would be remiss if I did not mention Senator Cory Booker, whose inspirational words moved this writer to tears. Booker is himself an outstanding Senator. In the years to come, he can go the distance. Who knows the heights he can leap? Let us congratulate Judge Jackson, celebrate her nomination and success, marvel over her accomplishments, and feel the joy of a soon-to-be new Supreme Court Justice.
