Donald Trump accuses Lester Holt of faking an interview, and no one can figure out what the hell he’s talking about
We’re not sure if Donald Trump is going further off the deep end than usual today because he can’t stand the positive attention that John McCain is receiving at his memorial service in Arizona, or if it’s because Trump has learned that a specific bombshell is about to land in one of his criminal scandals, or he’s simply cracking further under the cumulative pressure. Whatever the reason, Trump is even further off the deep end, and no one can even quite figure out what he’s talking about.
Trump now appears to be claiming on Twitter that NBC News and Lester Holt somehow faked the interview he gave them more than a year ago. This is of course the infamous interview in which Trump confessed to firing FBI Director James Comey to try to make the Russia investigation go away, a felony act of obstruction of justice on his part.
Here’s what Trump tweeted about the matter: “What’s going on at CNN is happening, to different degrees, at other networks – with NBC News being the worst. The good news is that Andy Lack(y) is about to be fired(?) for incompetence, and much worse. When Lester Holt got caught fudging my tape on Russia, they were hurt badly!” The thing is, none of this ever happened. There was never any such controversy, and even Trump has never made this accusation until today.
So now we’re supposed to believe that NBC dishonestly edited or faked its interview with Donald Trump in order to falsely make it appear that he confessed to a felony, yet Trump never bothered to call them out on it until now. He also appears to be implying that he has dirt on NBC/MSNBC exec Andrew Lack, the second time he’s made such a claim this year, without substantiating it. Trump seems obsessed with the firing of Comey today, so perhaps we’re looking at a bombshell of that variety. Or maybe Trump simply took some bad mushrooms.
