Paul Manafort goes to jail, Donald Trump has meltdown on White House lawn

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been sent to jail by a federal judge today, after he was caught conspiring with a Russian government spy to try to tamper with witnesses in the Trump-Russia scandal. Manafort had been out on house arrest while awaiting trial. But now he’ll remain locked up through the end of his trial. He’s expected to be found guilty on charges that could land him more than three hundred years in prison. In other words, short of a plea deal, Manafort has very likely already had his last-ever day as a free man. Trump isn’t taking it particularly well.

Trump seemed to know this was coming, as he had his allies from Fox and Friends broadcasting live from the White House lawn, giving him the opportunity to step in front of the cameras this morning and create a distraction. However, his effort didn’t go particularly well for him.

Trump made the incredible claim that Paul Manafort – who served as his campaign chairman and campaign manager, had “nothing” to do with the campaign. Trump then semi-coherently seemed to admit that he dictated his son’s false statement to the New York Times about the Trump Tower meeting with the Russians. This was a confession to felony obstruction of justice in Trump’s part. Then he made it worse.

Donald Trump jumped on Twitter after Paul Manafort was sent to jail, and posted this: “Wow, what a tough sentence for Paul Manafort, who has represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and many other top political people and campaigns. Didn’t know Manafort was the head of the Mob. What about Comey and Crooked Hillary and all of the others? Very unfair!” in so doing Trump revealed himself as a wannabe dictator and a pathetically weak whiner at the same time.
