Lauren Boebert has a whole new problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In the race to see which freshman House Republican is the most humiliating embarrassment, Marjorie Taylor Greene has clearly pulled into the lead, to the point that she could lose all of her committee assignments by the end of this week. But Lauren Boebert is clearly still trying to match her, embarrassment for embarrassment.

Boebert is best known for helping incite the Capitol terrorist attack, and then repeatedly tweeting out Speaker Pelosi’s location during the attack, all while demanding to carry a gun in the House. But now she has a different kind of problem.

The Denver Post newspaper is reporting that Boebert took more than $20,000 in what were apparently improper mileage reimbursements during her campaign; she would have needed to have driven nearly 40,000 miles to have legitimately racked up those kinds of reimbursements.

She’ll likely argue that she made an honest mistake because she’s new to politics, but that kind of excuse doesn’t always fly when it comes to improper use of campaign funds. In fact this is the kind of scandal that could be used to push Boebert out of the House, because it gives other House Republicans an excuse to expel her for financial corruption without having to take a position on her far right lunacy. We’ll see where this goes. But with these far right types, the scandals tend to just keep on coming.
