Donald Trump launches into bizarre late night meltdown
Now that former White House Senior Adviser and former Apprentice contestant Omarosa has begun releasing some of the recordings she secretly made of Donald Trump and other members of his administration, Trump has quickly tipped off just how worried he is about it. Early this morning he began ranting about Omarosa in unhinged and embarrassing fashion. Now, long after the sun has set, Trump is still ranting about her even more frantically.
One of Omarosa’s claims is that she’s heard from various people who have said there’s a tape of Donald Trump using the N-word on the set of the Apprentice. Omarosa does not appear to have this tape in her possession, but she’s far from the first person involved with the show who has pointed to its existence. Suffice it to say that Trump is more than a bit worried about this, as he just went berserk about it.
Here’s what Trump tweeted around 10pm eastern time: “[Apprentice producer] Mark Burnett called to say that there are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a terrible and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa. I don’t have that word in my vocabulary, and never have. She made it up. Look at her MANY recent quotes saying such wonderful and powerful things about me – a true Champion of Civil Rights – until she got fired. Omarosa had Zero credibility with the Media (they didn’t want interviews) when she worked in the White House. Now that she says bad about me, they will talk to her. Fake News!” This is more than a bit problematic.
For one thing, the media and the public are only listening to Omarosa because she has recordings which support a number of the major claims she made in her book. In addition, based on Donald Trump’s consistent history of lying about everything, there is no reason to believe that Mark Burnett actually made such a phone call. Also, if Trump has never used the N-word, as he claims, then why would he need to separately insist that there are no tapes of him using it? If he’s never said it, there couldn’t be any tapes.
