Donald Trump launches into bizarre late night meltdown
As his Russia scandal and obstruction of justice scandal have come closer to ending his presidency and his freedom, Donald Trump has become more prone to late night Twitter meltdowns. So it wasn’t a surprise to see him go off the deep end yet again on Saturday night, now that he’s returned from his bribery conference in Switzerland. This time around, Trump is revealing that he’s so far gone, he’s unable to keep his own secret strategy a secret.
Trump recently floated a half baked proposal to cave to Democrats on DACA immigration reform, in exchange for getting an exorbitant amount of funding for his racist and idiotically pointless border wall. The Democrats didn’t bite, because they now hold all the cards, with Trump’s government in danger of being shut down again just days from now if he doesn’t sufficiently cave on DACA. So now Trump is flat out admitting that his offer wasn’t genuine to begin with.
Trump tweeted “I have offered DACA a wonderful deal, including a doubling in the number of recipients & a twelve year pathway to citizenship, for two reasons: (1) Because the Republicans want to fix a long time terrible problem. (2) To show that Democrats do not want to solve DACA, only use it!” At this point Trump, who is deep into mental decline, appears to have so little filter left that he can’t even help but brag about his own insincerity. He then added “Democrats are not interested in Border Safety & Security or in the funding and rebuilding of our Military. They are only interested in Obstruction!” Apparently he believes that if he capitalizes the “obstruction” accusation, it’ll somehow make it more true.
Meanwhile back in the real world, the Republican Party has already had to cave to Democrats on CHIP just to temporarily get the government reopened, after Trump’s indecisive idiocy led to a shutdown. Now he’s playing more idiotic games, and he’s even admitting that he’s playing games, which is about to lead to his government being embarrassingly shut down yet again. Then the Democrats will have far more leverage on DACA and other issues.
