Michael Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis confirms that Cohen has incriminated Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Based on what came out of the courtroom in New York today, most political analysts including Palmer Report were left to conclude that Michael Cohen had formally accused Donald Trump of a crime, thus making Trump an unindicted co-conspirator. Now Cohen’s criminal defense attorney Lanny Davis is speaking out about the matter, and let’s just say that it’s anything but good news for Trump.

When Michael Cohen was pleading guilty to eight different felonies today, and he made a point of stating that the “candidate” had instructed him to make the illegal payment to two women, in violation of federal election law. There was no doubt that the “candidate” was Donald Trump, of course. Suddenly the phrase “unindicted co-conspirator” was being thrown around left and right. That’s when Lanny Davis jumped on Twitter and spelled things out as clearly as possible.

Here’s what Davis tweeted: “Michael Cohen took this step today so that his family can move on to the next chapter. This is Michael fulfilling his promise made on July 2nd to put his family and country first and tell the truth about Donald Trump. Today he stood up and testified under oath that Donald Trump directed him to commit a crime by making payments to two women for the principal purpose of influencing an election. If those payments were a crime for Michael Cohen, then why wouldn’t they be a crime for Donald Trump?”

So now there is no longer any doubt whatsoever about Michael Cohen’s official position: he’s pleaded guilty to the crime of making the payoffs, and he’s formally accused Donald Trump in court of having conspired with him to commit that crime. We’re now in rare territory that’s only ever previously been breached when Richard Nixon was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Watergate scandal. By the way, this doesn’t mean that Robert Mueller won’t indict Donald Trump; it just means it hasn’t happened yet.
