Ladies and gentlemen, get off your asses
With election day just a hundred hours or so away, I’m starting to see a lot of panic, anxiety, fear, doomsday hysteria, whatever you want to call it. It’s understandable. But it’s also important to remember how utterly useless it is.
We’re not football fans sitting on the couch, idly fretting over the results with no control over it. We’re politically active people who each have the ability to spend these last few days getting the people around us to vote.
We can impact the outcome of this election, by turning off the TV and getting off the couch and getting more votes for our side. We have to do this. We owe it to ourselves, our country, and our future.
In fact the only way we can screw this up is if we sit there on the couch these final days and stare at the fear porn on our screens. Because if we do that, then we’re not bringing in any additional votes for our side at all. The people on TV and Twitter want us to believe that staring at our screens is the only way to keep it from all going wrong. But staring at our screens is the worst thing we can do, in terms of our own mental health, and in terms of winning this election.
I know you’ve heard me say it before, but right now is the most important time I’m going to say it: get off your ass. Turn off your TV. Stop seeking out things to panic over. Go out and get our side some more votes. You’ll be so glad you did.
