Donald Trump goes off deep end, gives away he knows Robert Mueller has him nailed

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In the day and a half since Donald Trump fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe for illegitimate reasons, it’s becoming clear that Trump wasn’t merely acting out of spite; it was a panic move. Trump sensed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was moving in on him, and even though firing McCabe wasn’t going to stop that, it was the only move he had left. Trump’s own words are now giving away that he knows Mueller has him nailed.

The first hint of trouble for Trump came when he began frantically ranting about McCabe and former FBI Director James Comey on Twitter around midnight on Friday. By Saturday afternoon his rant had expanded to include his insistence that the Mueller probe into the Trump-Russia scandal shouldn’t even exist. We then learned from the New York Times that Trump had just received interview questions from Mueller, a reminder to Trump that he’s either going to have to testify or plead the fifth. Today things shifted again.

After it was reported by the AP that McCabe had taken contemporaneous notes about Trump’s obstruction and that Mueller already had them, Trump went off the deep end this morning about those memos: “Spent very little time with Andrew McCabe, but he never took notes when he was with me. I don’t believe he made memos except to help his own agenda, probably at a later date. Same with lying James Comey. Can we call them Fake Memos?” We’ve already heard Comey testify that he wrote his memos immediately after his conversations with Trump, so McCabe presumably did the same. Yet Trump seems to think that McCabe would have to have been taking the notes in front of him, which is bizarre. It got worse.

Donald Trump then posted this tweet, which does not contain a single true word: “Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans? Another Dem recently added…does anyone think this is fair? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!” First of all, Robert Mueller himself is a lifelong registered Republican. His team consists of Republicans and Democrats. Trump is just making things up at random, out of sheer desperation. He’s giving away that he knows Mueller has him nailed.
