Key Ron DeSantis 2024 official quits

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis debated California Governor Gavin Newsom last night, it was a soaring moment that helped set up Newsom for a potential 2028 presidential run. It was also a reminder that DeSantis’ 2024 run was over awhile ago. Now the bad news is piling on for him.

The chairman of Ron DeSantis’ 2024 SuperPAC just quit, after its CEO separately quit last week. This is a key fundraising arm for DeSantis, but his top people there are heading for the exits.

Given that last night’s debate was DeSantis’ last gasp and he failed miserably, and that his people keep quitting, it won’t be surprising if he drops out soon. He’s bottoming out, both in terms of his numbers and in terms of his increasing inability to hide what a weirdo he is.

At this point the only thing that might keep DeSantis in the race is the fact that Donald Trump is going on criminal trial and heading for prison, and he could lose his grip on the 2024 Republican nomination in the process, and someone has to end up with it. But the longer he stays in the race, the more DeSantis becomes a punchline by the day.
