Kevin McCarthy’s house of cards is falling

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I have avoided writing about the debt ceiling. This is for one reason. I trust President Biden. It is not surprising to me that Republicans want to crash the economy. It is, after all, a horrible choice, and through the years, Republicans have excelled at making awful choices.

This article, however, is NOT about the debt ceiling. It’s about the shit-show going on behind the scenes — in Kevin McCarthy”s house. “Blindsided!” Reports are Republicans are furious at McCarthy. This is because of what they deem “broken promises.”

According to reports, many of the more moderate Republicans are infuriated that Kevin is giving in to the likes of extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene. They don’t like it; They feel deceived. They are worried their constituents back home will blame them if negotiations fall apart, which of course, the constituents WILL. And they’re coming for Kevin McCarthy.

And these more moderate Republicans feel Kevin played them for fools — because of all his promises to the extremists. Several Republican lawmakers reportedly told Axios that this has hurt their ability to pass any legislation. So, basically, the whole Republican caucus is falling apart. Everyone is arguing among themselves, and nothing is getting done, and McCarthy seems to be one of the reasons why.

As I said — I trust President Biden. The Republicans have no platform and do not give a hoot about the American people, so there is no doubt they would cheer a collapsing economy. I trust Biden not to let that happen. I do not trust Kevin McCarthy for anything and judging by these reports, neither does anybody else.
