Kevin McCarthy is asleep at the wheel and these House Republican hearings are a train wreck already

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

House Republicans held a hearing on Wednesday about supposed social network bias against right wingers. House Democrats dominated the hearing and proved the opposite. The main soundbite from the hearing was when AOC spelled out how an infamous right wing Twitter troll has been harassing people in real life.

The kicker is that the hearing got no mainstream media penetration anyway. It had zero impact. No one in the real world is talking about it. No one cares. The House Republican agenda is already DOA. Nobody cares.

Of course some of the House Republicans on these committees are using these kinds of hearings to fundraise in their own far right districts, which for the record is the point of all of this kind of nonsense. But these are the same House Republicans who are going to be reelected no matter what anyway.

These kinds of antics do not in any way help the Republicans’ overall odds of keeping the House in 2024. It’s as if they’ve given up even trying. That’s why we’re going to end up playing such a crucial role in helping to make sure that the Democratic House candidates win the close races in the most competitive districts. Republicans are asleep at the wheel strategy-wise, and they’re unlikely to wake up any time soon.
