Kevin McCarthy gets desperate

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Desperation breeds contempt — and laughter. For Republican Kevin McCarthy, it seems every day is a new day for him to step in it. And like a great big boney fish flopping around, McCarthy is sticking to the bottom of the ocean.

So what’s he done now? Kevin “I have no idea what I’m doing” McCarthy is blaming high gas prices on the January 6 committee. Really! I mean — could the fish be any more floppy?

McCarthy has not stopped his insistence that the January 6 committee is a bunch of pure partisans — despite the fact that two Republicans sit on this committee. But blaming the committee for gas prices? How stupid does Kevin think the country is?

The answer to that question is — very stupid. Here is what he said: “The one thing I do know, and the American public knows, gas has gone up $1.86 a gallon since the day Nancy Pelosi announced that committee.”

It is truly amazing that this person was ever elected in the first place. This comment most definitely wins the “idiot comment of the week award.” This award is wholly made up by me, but it is nonetheless fitting. His desperation to change the subject is SO palpable. The flopping has increased, and the stupidity is doing back flips.

Of course, social media went into overdrive, mocking the man. I believe that McCarthy knows his job is in jeopardy, and that’s why the stupid factor has ratcheted up. People like Kevin tend to panic when they know they’re on the losing side. So let Kevin talk, but nobody is listening — unless it’s either to laugh or – as in my case — to write an article about it.
