Kevin McCarthy gets busted
In the months since Donald Trump was ousted from office, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has become ever more dishonest, destructive, and desperate. McCarthy doesn’t seem to know what he’s even trying to do, beyond 1) keeping the ghost of Trump alive, and 2) sabotaging the United States in an effort at harming the Democrats.
McCarthy appeared on Fox with notoriously dishonest host Maria Bartiromo, and while it may have played well to the base, it was a disaster on a larger scale. Respected fact checker Daniel Dale noted that McCarthy made at least five false claims during a mere seven minutes on the air. In other words, busted.
While Kevin McCarthy may have served to fire up the far right with these lies, the headlines he’s getting today in mainstream America are all going to be about what a liar he is. McCarthy seems to be making the Trump-like mistake of thinking he can play just to the base, without even trying to win over voters in the middle. This is the dumb strategy that cost Trump reelection.
