The pundits who cry wolf, and the fatalists who choose to fall for it, are now insisting that Donald Trump is going to win the election because of the civil unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin. There are a number of crucial issues playing out in Kenosha right now, from racist violence, to gun control, to police reform, and it all needs our foremost attention. But this isn’t going to tilt the election. How do I know?

The unrest in Washington DC didn’t magically help Trump’s poll numbers. The unrest in Portland didn’t magically help Trump’s poll numbers. The unrest in Kenosha won’t magically help Trump’s poll numbers. It doesn’t work that way, no matter how many times the pundits say it does. It really is that simple.
