Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue go off the rails

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

While Kelly Loeffler made a fool of herself on Sunday night during her debate with Democratic opponent Raphael Warnock, her fellow Senator David Perdue didn’t fare a whole lot better at his own debate. What’s worse for Perdue is that he didn’t even bother to show up and was instead represented by an empty podium at the Atlanta Press Club-sponsored event.

Perdue’s opponent, Senate hopeful Jon Ossoff, took the stage anyway and railed into his opponent who is now using the tagline “Totally Exonerated” for his campaign. It gives you an idea of how things are going for Perdue – that he’s parroting the line of a politician who lost by seven million votes and reminding voters of his own scandal. Perhaps it’s fitting that at least a few Republicans are likely to write Trump’s name in as their vote anyway.

Although the Justice Department chose not to pursue charges against Perdue for insider trading, he was still well aware of what happened with his stocks, all while downplaying the threat of COVID, something Ossoff pointed out on Sunday morning and reiterated again at the debate, calling on the people of Georgia to expect more from their elected leaders and denouncing Perdue for using the office of Senator to line his own pockets while fighting to exclude stimulus checks from the next relief package. He also had another take on why Perdue failed to show up: “He’s not here because he’s afraid he may incriminate himself in this debate.”

Where was Perdue instead of at the town hall? The only tweet from his account while the event happened showed him at a campaign stop with his cousin, Sonny Perdue, the current U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, yet another reminder of his friends in high places that have only made his crooked political career possible. Donate and volunteer on behalf of Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, and let’s retake the Senate on January 5.
