Karmic justice
I call it karmic justice. The GOP ought REALLY to have anticipated this. That they do not appear to have done so indicates what fools they are. Donald Trump needs money, and he needs it desperately. His campaign is going horribly, and the cash is not flowing in. President Biden is bypassing him in the money department, and Trump is falling behind in virtually every poll released lately.
So Trump, in the spirit of out-of-control narcissists everywhere, has come up with a new and rather unique way to find himself some cash. Trump has decreed that all GOP downballot candidates must surrender a significant portion of their earnings-a staggering five percent-to his campaign coffers.
If this news finds you breaking into giggles, rest assured, my friends, you’re certainly not alone. It IS karmic justice. Republican weebles, wobbling around defending Trump, are witnessing the burning up of their political dreams all because they can’t stand up to a ghoulish traitor who hates them. This is a celebration.
A letter from the Trump campaign stated that any down-ballot candidate who uses either his name image, or likeness must be prepared to show Trump the money! “Beginning tomorrow, we ask that all candidates and committees who choose to use President Trump’s name image and likeness split a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC.”
Like that? Wait though. There’s more. “This includes but is not limited to sending to the house file, prospective vendors, and advertising.” Burt wait! There’s more. “Any split that is higher than 5% will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump’s campaign.”
Let’s set the stage, shall we? Downballot candidates who are already at a disadvantage because most of the money from donors is going to Trump’s legal bills instead of to them, now have to pay out an additional five percent (or higher) to the Trump campaign. I love it.
Look, we’ve long said the downballot candidates were on a sinking and stinking ship on their way down, down down, through the murky depths to the bottom of the polluted waters they find themselves sinking in. They are themselves hopelessly outspent by democrats, and adding insult to injury; their own party does not appear to care WHAT happens to them. It just does not get any better than this.
