Kari Lake is having a really bad day

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In spite of how uniquely unappealing she is as a candidate, it looks like Kari Lake will once again be the Republican Party nominee in the highest profile election in Arizona. Lake is such a liability that the Arizona GOP Chair tried offering her a job in exchange for not running, but that somehow resulted in the Chair being ousted and Lake surviving – a reminder that the Arizona GOP is all about extremism, and not about winning.

It’s bad enough for Kari Lake that she has to run while being Kari Lake. She’s a walking talking gaffe machine, and a punchline among moderate voters. But now that the Arizona Supreme Court has disgracefully outlawed abortion rights in the state based on a law written back in 1864, things are even uglier for Lake.

Kari Lake will now have to run for U.S. Senate while being the anti-abortion candidate, in a state where abortion rights turnout is likely to be through the roof. Statewide elections in Arizona somehow always end up being close, so we’ll have to put in the work for Democratic candidate Ruben Gallego. But suffice it to say that Kari Lake is having a really bad day today.
