Kamala Harris reportedly set to announce her running mate within a week

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If she wanted to, Kamala Harris could wait until the start of the Democratic National Convention before announcing her running mate. But given the unusual and compressed nature of her campaign, we’ve all been waiting to see whether that would indeed be the case, or whether she would make the announcement sooner.

Now a new report from Reuters says that Kamala Harris is expected to be on the road next with alongside her running mate. By default this would mean that she’ll announce her running mate within a week. This still gives no indication of who the running mate is going to be. But now that we know the pick is supposedly going to be announced within a week, we’ll probably see incremental leaks in the meantime.

Yesterday, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that he was removing himself from consideration. There are still conflicting reports about who else is in or out of consideration, with the most prominent names being Josh Shapiro, Tim Walz, Pete Buttigieg, Mark Kelly, and Andy Beshear. These kinds of short list leaks all have to be taken with a grain of salt. But now it looks like we’re going to get the official answer within a week.
